Mechanical Removal
Blue Water Aquatics recognizes the need for a variety of options for aquatic vegetation control. Although herbicides have replaced most mechanical controls for invasive aquatic plant management in Florida’s waters, there are occasions when mechanical control is the only option. The use of mechanical vegetation removal can be the ideal method in cases where alternative methods are not working, vegetation needs to be removed quickly from flood control structures, bridges, or navigation channels, when irrigation restrictions prevent the use of herbicides, and when the growth has reached a level where removing the biomass is the most cost-effective, long-term option.

Excavator
With their long reach and hydraulic thumbs, small excavators can pluck small trees and bushes right out of the mud.

Excavator
A mower deck makes short work of tall brush.

Excavator
The machine’s boom alloys the mower deck to reach the bottom of steep canal banks.

AQUA-HARVESTER
This paddlewheel driven barge can lower a large sickle bar mower 6 feet under the water to trim submersed and floating vegetation.

AQUA-HARVESTER
The machine’s conveyor belt feeds the trimmed vegetation up to a storage area where it can then be offloaded to shore.
