Blue Water Aquatics is a SOX systems certified installer. One option is the DredgeSOX product that offers a superior alternative to the use of a “hard-edge” alternative. The DredgeSox Erosion Control solution is a geosynthetic product that is used to stabilize shorelines, hillsides and other earthen environments, and prevent soil bank erosion. 

It consists of a double layer of knitted, high-density polyethylene mesh. When installed, the polyethylene mesh is filled with organic materials, often obtained from dredging shallow sediment, blown-in compost mix or other appropriate fill material. Erosion control through littoral shelves is achieved by breaking the water’s wave action and through the plant’s roots which give strength to the shoreline. Once filled and secured, a variety of beneficial vegetation can be planted or sodded.

Riprap is another excellent shoreline erosion defense. When done properly, it can provide decades of protection and stability. If the riprap is maintained and kept free of weeds, it can become a distinctive feature along your waterway.
